What is an Office Workstation Spot Check?

MoveSafe Office Workstation Spot Checks are short, proactive ergonomics check-ins designed for employees who may have questions about their workstation setup but are not currently experiencing any significant discomfort.

These brief check-ins focus on reviewing workstation configuration, answering employee questions, and identifying potential ergonomic risk factors following the completion of a Workplace Ergonomics Workshop.

 Any recommendations or corrective actions are documented and communicated to the employer through a short report or summary spreadsheet following completion.

If an employee is experiencing significant discomfort or has more complex ergonomic concerns, a Comprehensive Office Ergonomics Assessment is recommended.

When is an Office Workstation Spot Check Conducted?

Office Workstation Spot Checks are often provided immediately following a Workplace Ergonomics Workshop to reinforce learning and support early identification of workstation concerns. When conducted in-person, approximately 20 employees can be accommodated in a single day when Spot Checks are delivered following a Workshop.

Spot Checks can also be conducted virtually, with employees completing a short pre-assessment task that includes submitting workstation photos and a few basic measurement in advance.

When either the Workshop or Spot Checks are provided virtually they may occur on separate days. In these cases, it is recommended that Office Workstation Spot Checks are completed within two weeks of the Workplace Ergonomics Workshop to ensure optimal learning reinforcement and follow-through.

What to Expect During an Office Workstation Spot Check?

Following a Workplace Ergonomics Workshop, employees are expected to implement any advised workstation adjustments prior to their Office Workstation Spot Check.

An ergonomics consultant then conducts brief individual workstation visits to answer questions, fine-tune setups, and ensure each employee has correctly adjusted their workstation for optimal comfort and support.
