Whether you are sitting in an office chair, a dining room chair, on the couch or in the car, how you sit matters. When we sit with poor hunched forward posture we are asking the muscles of our neck and upper back to hold up our heads, which can weigh up to 15 pounds, and this often results in strain and discomfort. Slouching down on the couch or in the car can put unnecessary stress on the joints and structures in our lower back as they are placed in a suboptimal position. It is important that regardless of where you sit that you use the ‘Big 3’ of seated posture: Stable Base, Hinge at the Hips and Shoulders Anchored. Use this ErgoTip poster as a reminder of how to sit with healthy and supportive posture.
As always, quality is important so please ensure you follow the instructions provided in the pdf to make sure you are using proper technique.
